Just Changed A Component

The Package Unit (usually located on the Roof)
The Condenser (in a split system that is the unit that is most often outside)
The Furnace / Air Handler (located in the attic, in a closet in the house or on a platform in the garage)
The Cooling Coil (located at the Furnace / Air Handler)

Below you will see reference to 'Rated Fan Flow'. This number is determined by one of two methods.
1. The ton rating of the condensing unit. i.e. 3 Ton. The formula is then ((ton*400)=*allowed leak rate) example--((3*400)*.15)=180 CFM
2. The Output BTU of the furnace example-- ((64000 * 21.7) * .15) / 1000=208 CFM

You changed your Package Unit and you are located in Climate Zones 2 or 9 thru 16. All you need is a Duct Sealing Test.
If you kept your existing ducts or you did not add more than 40' of new ducts in unconditioned space then the ducts must pass with a target duct leakage less than 15% of rated fan flow.
If you change your ducts or added more than 40' of new ducts in unconditioned space then the ducts must pass with a target duct leakage less than 6% of rated fan flow.

You changed only your Condenser and you are located in Climate Zones 2 or 8 thru 15.You will need a Refrigerant Charge and Airflow Test (RCA) and a Duct Sealing Test. The ducts must pass with a target duct leakage less than 15% of rated fan flow.

You changed only your Furnace / Air Handler and you are located in Climate Zones 2 or 8 thru 16. Now if you do not have an Air Conditioner and the system is 'Heat Only' which is common in Climate Zone 16, all you need is a Duct Sealing Test.
But if there is Air Conditioning at your project you will need a Refrigerant Charge and Airflow Test (RCA) and a Duct Sealing Test. The ducts must pass with a target duct leakage less than 15% of rated fan flow.
